For the Israelis it's a holiday, and for the Palestinians-a catastrophe. The yearly Independence Day of Israel fuels up the tension between the Israeli and Palestinian narratives on what happened in 1948 war that Israelis celebrate as independence. 

In this Lunch and Learn, we will dive into details of each narratives, and brainstorm ways in which they can overlap, and perhaps complete each other.

In 2018, The LGBTQ Community took it to the streets as the government excluded them from the surrogate law, allowing LGBTQ men to get the assistance of a surrogate mother in Israel or abroad in order to bare children. 

As the protest swept Israelis by storm, it raised heavy moral dilemmas on surrogates, and collision between women's rights and LGBTQ rights.  

In this lunch and learn, we will learn together about the largest LGBTQ protest in the middle east's history, and try to solve together the moral dilemmas it surfaces.

What's Your Story? An Intro Memoir Writing 01/15/2020 - 02/26/2020 All ages

Location:14th Street Y

Participants will write in class in response to memoir-specific prompts and, through subsequent discussion, they will discover ways to frame and write personal stories. The workshop will help writers develop strategies to organize material, experiment with form and hone their voices to craft engaging narratives. Like above, in the second half of the class, writers will share excerpts from ongoing projects they are working on outside of class.
