Watercolor: Basic Application and Color Theory (3-Week Workshop)

Develop your painting style and abilities through individualized, one-on-one instruction inside a group setting! In this 3-week workshop, students are introduced to the foundational elements of watercolor in a relaxed environment featuring expert instruction. In the first class, students will learn all of the basic applications of watercolor on paper, such as hard edge, soft edge, wet-on-wet, lifting, dry-brush, and glazing techniques. The final two class sessions will be focused on combining these applications with an emphasis on color theory. Students will work from both still life and reference photos to create unique pieces of art that will bolster their portfolio. All participants are provided with a recommended materials list and will provide their own supplies for this workshop. At the end of the workshop, students will have gained a better understanding of painting with watercolor, having learned important skills to build on their creative practice!
